![]() Carbonite adds this location to your backup by default. iTunes keeps changing to the default folder location I have no idea whats going on here, but, its getting very frustrating. For some reason the links are deleted as and when iTunes attempts to write any data to the path. Apple keeps your music within a folder located on your computer. NB Do not attempt to use folder redirection with any part of the iTunes library. If, however, you have previously split out the media folder via iTunes preferences then see this post on Making a split library portable. Provided the designated media folder is a direct subfolder of the main iTunes library folder then you can move the library folder to a new path, and hold down shift as you start iTunes to connect to the new location. If you want to save space on your hard drive, change the location to an external or network. 5.) Go try backup from Itunes (I just did and its working) 6.) If you want your old backups you can move them to the new folder also. When you install iTunes for Windows, by default the Library location is in your local My Music folder. 4.) Go to the new location and make an empty 'Backup' folder. In essence you move the existing folder to a new location, create an empty folder where the old one used to be, then get the operating system to link the two togther and silently redirect any file operation on the old location through to the new one. 3.) Run mklink command and it will put a shortcut in the C: location, which points to where you want it in the new location. I have plenty of space for the download on my local hard drive, but Itunes doesnt want to let me use that. ![]() helpfully, Itunes offers no option for changing the download location that I can see. If you don't see your iTunes Media folder in the above location, here's how to find it: Open iTunes. ![]() To find it, go to User > Music > iTunes > iTunes Media. the default location for the download is my personal network folder. By default, your iTunes Media folder is in your iTunes folder. You can redirect \\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a folder on another drive using NTFSLink (shell ext., might only work on XP) or Junction (cmd line tool). Youll move it to a drive with more space, but youll LIE to iTunes using a little-used Windows Utility that will make a LINK between the folder iTunes expects to find and the folder you want your backups in. Itunes tells me i have an update and starts to download it. ![]()
